I propose that a group, or groups, such as Buy Fresh Buy Local (BFBL) or Food Availability Task Force (FATF) work together and apply for $20,000 available from the YorIt Social Venture Challenge. (This is the local philanthropic group of young people who gave the Healthy World Cafe $20,000 last year.) I can’t think of anything more important to restoring balance to our community than helping people become better nourished. Of course we know that we need nourishment for every aspect of our multi-faceted existence, but in this instance, the focus would be on physical nourishment. If there is interest in pursuing this opportunity, we’ll need to move on it fairly quickly. The “lifeline” for applying is February 3, 2012.
